 πŸŒTHE DARK NIGHT 🌏

CHAPTER 1

It is not every day that you meet a real man of God, I mean a real prophet of God. Some run around in the guise of prophets. In reality, they are not. Some cause more harm than good. That is why you should always pray to God to open your eyes and sharpen your understanding so that you could be able to discern a real man of God from an unreal one. This is very important because meeting a wrong one could have disastrous consequences not just for you but also for your family.

I am not in any way writing against men of God. I know some people will say I shouldn’t judge. Sorry to burst your bubble, I am going to judge. Making sure that you interact with the right prophet, pastor, apostle or whoever should be your first, second, third, fourth and fifth concern. The story I am about to tell you is about a young girl who unfortunately came into contact with the wrong kind of prophet, and it changed her life forever-negatively.

Lum, as this lady was called, lived with her father, mother and two younger brothers. They were an average family and in spite of the fact that they were not very rich, her parents gave her and her siblings a good upbringing. Her parents were devout Christians and fellowshipped regularly in a famous Pentecostal church in Bamenda. Her father was an important elder in the church and her mother was a deaconess.

Most Pentecostal churches have a habit of inviting men of God from other countries whenever they have a crusade or a convention. The favourite amongst all the countries from which they invited these men of God is Nigeria. Everyone knows that Nigeria has some of the greatest men of God on this planet. I can’t name them here but of course; we already know them. Most Pentecostal pastors in Cameroon, every now and then, go to Nigeria for spiritual visits. However, we all know as long as the Holy Spirit exists, there are also evil spirits.

Not every man of God gets his power from God. Some get their power from the devil. I know this is beginning to look or sound like a sermon. However, permit me stay on this for a while. This is because it is important to grasp a clear distinction between the two so as not to make the mistake Lum made.

She was sitting in the living room that evening with her family when her mother brought up the conversation about an upcoming crusade in their church.

“Lum”

“Mum”

“I hope you have not forgotten about the crusade that begins tomorrow.”

“I haven’t forgotten, mum. However, what’s so special about it? Is it not just like all the other crusades we have been having?”

“No, well, technically speaking, it’s the same. However, this particular one has an extra touch to it.”

“How do you mean, Mum? What extra touch?”

“There is a powerful man of God that will be invited. He is so filled with the holy spirit. He performs impossible miracles and prophesies. You need to attend the crusade.”

“Wow!! Mum is this for real. What’s his name?”

“I hear he is called Prophet…., I seem to have forgotten that name. Let me ask your father. Where is your father? He was sitting right there just a few minutes ago.”

“He went outside to take a call, Mum.”

“Alright, when he comes back, I will ask him.”

Late that night, when everyone was in bed, Lum wasn’t sleeping. She was up and thinking about what her mother had said that afternoon. She couldn’t wait to meet the prophet. However, she was sad because she knew there was a slim chance that she would be able to have a one-on-one encounter with the prophet. There was going to be almost a thousand people at the crusade. So, there was a high possibility that the prophet might not even locate her.

Lum was a beautiful girl, and she was about twenty years. She was a real woman, with all the fixings in the right places. Her parents were very aware about their daughter’s natural endowments. That is why they were doing all they could to bring her up as a good Christian. However, it is said that you often meet your destiny on the road you take to avoid it.

It was crusade day. That afternoon, Lum’s friend, Manka came to visit her. They were both students at the National Polytechnic. However, right now, they were on holiday.

“Are you going to the crusade tonight?” Lum asked Manka.

“Of course, I am. I hear it is going to be a gathering of special magnificence, especially as that great man of God from Nigeria is coming.”

“Yeah, I can’t miss. When is it starting?”

“My mum said by six.”

“Alright, when it is time to go, could you please come and get me from my house so we could go together.”

“Alright, no problem.”

It was 7:00 PM now and the crusade grounds was almost full. There were people there with all sorts of troubles. There were blind people, cripples, deaf and dumb, sick people etc. A famous gospel musician and her band were also invited. The man of God had not yet come. However, his absence didn’t affect the general mood of the occasion. The gospel artist’s voice was angelic as she wowed the crowd and moved them to tears with her spirit-filled song. In one inconspicuous corner of the arena, Lum and Manka stood and waited for the prophet to arrive.

Suddenly there was pandemonium as people became exited. Everyone got up from their sits. Some even went on tiptoes just to see what was happening. It was the prophet making a grand entrance into the arena. There was cheering and shouting as he made his entrance. His convoy of about six cars, including a police escort car drove right into the open arena. When they stopped, a policeman walked up to the car which carried the prophet and opened the door for him. As he stepped down from his car and started walking towards the stage, the crowd became more worked up than ever. Some people even fainted.

I don’t need to bother you about what happened at the crusade grounds. However, many miracles were performed that night. People went home healed and satisfied. Lum and Manka, who were both members of their church choir, sang a special song at the event. The prophet was very pleased with them and showered money on them.

There is something that most Christians do these days. They worship their pastors more than they even worship God. They always adhere to a prophet’s every whim and caprices even when their gut feeling tells them that it is wrong. As a result, most pastors have developed a cult of personality around them. Some people even sleep on the floor for the pastor to walk on them. Married women use the pastor’s picture as their display picture whereas they have never accorded that privilege to their husbands. The list of things people, especially women, are ready to do in order to please a man of God shocks even the men of God themselves.

To some diehard Christians, a man of God is infallible and whatever he asks of you has to be respected and done even if it is a sin and against biblical standards. That is the very same mindset Lum, Manka and their parents had and that was why the prophet exploited them for his own needs.

At the end of the crusade, the prophet asked for Lum and Manka to be brought to him. When they came, this conversation followed.

“You girls sing so well, especially you young lady. What is your name?”

“Lum, Sir. I mean prophet.”

“Lum, we don’t have such names where I come from. It is a beautiful name nevertheless.”

“Thank you, Prophet Sir.”

“And your friend, what is her own name?”

“Manka”

“Beautiful names for beautiful girls. Your names are as beautiful as your faces. You are both blessed my daughters.”

“Thank you, Prophet.” Lum and Manka answered in chorus.

“Who is your father?” The prophet asked Lum.

“His name is Mr. Che. He is an elder in the church.”

“Wow!! That is great. And you, Manka. Does your father also attend this church?”

“Yes, Prophet. He is a deacon. His name is Deacon Ajeck.”

“That is great news. Your parents are both God fearing people and are devoted to the work of God. You are both blessed.”

“Amen”

“I would like to have a special session with both of you tomorrow afternoon. I need to work on your spiritual lives. You both have special gifts. However, the devil is trying to steal your gifts.”

He laid his both hands on the heads of the two girls and spoke in tongues.

“You both need to see me tomorrow. I need to have a special prayer session with both of you separately. You, Manka should come at 3:00 PM while you, Lum should come at 4. Please, endeavour to be there and on time, too. After these sessions, your lives will never be the same again.” The prophet spoke prophetically.

“Of course, we will, Prophet. Ha!! We can never fail, not so, Manka?” That was Lum talking.

“We will be there, man of God, and on time, too.” Manka concurred.

“Alright see you girls tomorrow. God bless you both.”

“God bless you too, man of God.”

The prophet got into his car and the convoy started moving away but Lum ran after the car, asking the driver to stop. The prophet’s car stopped, and he lowered the window glass.

“Is there anything else you want, young lady?”

“Sir, you didn’t tell us the name of your hotel.”

“Oh! That’s true. I am lodging at Ayaba Hotel. When you get there, just let the receptionist know you have come to see me. She will take you to my suit.” The prophet explained.

“Ok, Sir. Thank you. See you tomorrow.”

“God bless you.”

Lum and Manka walked merrily home. Lum especially, couldn’t believe her luck. Her greatest wish had been to meet with the prophet one on one. Now, she wasn’t just going to meet the prophet one on one, she was going to meet him in the privacy of his hotel room for a special prayer session. She considered herself extremely blessed and lucky.

The next day, at exactly 3:30 PM, Lum went to Ayaba Hotel and the receptionist led her to the prophet’s suit. She knocked and the prophet opened. When he saw that it was Lum, he was both shocked and annoyed.

“I told you to come at 4:00, why are you coming now?” He was visibly angry.

“I am sorry, Prophet. I didn’t have anything to do at home. I had finished all my house chores. That is why I decided to be early.

The prophet asked her to come in. When she did, she was able to see a female hiding behind the transparent curtains of the room. The female was Manka and she was naked. The prophet himself was half naked. She was shocked.

“What is going…”

But she was interrupted by the prophet who dragged her towards him and covered her mouth.

“I am going to make love to you, just like I have done to your friend, Manka over there.”

“But Sir, I don’t want. Please, I have to go now.”

However, it was too late for Lum. The prophet used a white handkerchief and touched her head and she became still. He took of all her clothes and she couldn’t even hesitate. She seemed to be under a spell. When he was about removing her pants, she managed to hold his hand and spoke.

“Prophet, please, I am menstruating.”

“There is no problem about that, my dear.” The prophet spoke. He then removed the blood-soaked pad, put it in his mouth and started sucking it.
